Another reason to love Dallas. The overall cost of living is manageable. I looked today on Realtor.com. I searched 3 bedroom, 2 bath homes with 1200 sq feet or more, priced at $200,000 and under. I found 443 properties. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Dallas_TX/beds-3/baths-2/price-na-200000
Now maybe many of the homes wouldn’t meet your standards or be located in the specific area you want, but I think we can agree 443 different choices is more than a few. I did the same search for Los Angeles, CA. And I found a total of 12 properties. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Los-Angeles_CA/beds-3/baths-2/type-single-family-home/price-na-200000/sqft-5/rntsby-5
Yes, you read that right, 12 properties in all of Los Angeles that are 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1200 sq ft or more, priced at $200,000 and under. 12 houses versus 443 houses.
Now LA and Dallas are two very different cities but both are home to a wide variety of people from all walks of life. A cornerstone of the American Dream is home ownership. When home prices are so high, that only those with a big income can afford to buy, it ignores and excludes a large population segment. I don’t know about you, but I would fall into the excluded segment if I lived in LA. In Dallas my dream of home ownership lives, thrives and is encouraged.
Another reason Dallas is such a great place to call home.
